Transducer Ready Kayak

Hey Boys look what Malibu did!

That is pretty cool. I would be surprised if others don’t follow suit. I know nothing about making a kayak but, it seems roto-molding would make such an adaptation fairly easy?

Very nice!

You’re right DF, A very simple thing to do with roto molding. Profile could even be bolted to inside of mold rather then welded in to offer it as a option on a model or not.
Myself I’d allmost rather just silicone the transducer to inside of hull and let it shoot thru hull, lose a little of power from transducer that way, but not enough to make a big difference in shallower waters.

With through hull mount can you still get water temp?

Capt Dave

No, it will read the inside of the hull of the kayak, which one would think would sort of stabilize once kayak has been in water for 10 mins or so but would probably read a bit on the hi side.

So, a transducer will read through the hull if mounted inside the kayak? Does it need to be touching the bottom of the hull? Thanks.

Check out Youtube, there are several good videos showing how to mount a transducer inside the hull. I can’t imagine losing a little depth is that critical in a kayak.

Cool. Similar to the approach Ocean Kayak used, but better execution.

That’s awesome Dave. The kayak industry is pumping out new products left and right. Its a great time to be a part of this sport. Have you seen the specs on the new Pro Angler 12 and 14? They both come with in-hull transducer mounts and pre-drilled holes for the wiring with several mounting location options.
