Transducer scratches

Do scratches on the transducer interfere with the readings?

I doubt it.

Have you tried gluing it down inside the hull?

I glued mine inside my fiberglass hull shooting down through it. I used black silicone automotive adhesive. There are scratches worse than those on the hull, and it doesn’t affect the performance at all.

I used a small paintbrush with the bristles cut short, a clean rag, and rubbing alcohol to clean up both surfaces before gluing it down. It has held up great through temperature changes and riding around in water and on trailer.

I cant remember where I read it but I heard yes scratches can affect the read and they suggested that a light uniform sanding of the bottom of the transducer will fix the problem in most cases. I belive I read it on the lowranace webpage for troubleshooting my old hds.
