I just bought a 22’ Xpress (H22B). Was just wondering if anyone has this type boat and if so was looking for ideas on how you carry them in the boat. Just trying to keep them being all over the boat.
I keep my poles together with two ratchet straps, I tie the ends of the straps around the bundle a couple of times and then tie the rest into a ‘handle’ in the middle so I can pick them up. As a bundle they seem to be heavy enough not to move around while traveling.
Bungee cords!
careful, bungee cords can put an eye out…I just get a couple of 24" stretches of decent rope and tie them in a bundle at each end…

Here’s what I use. Think a huge twist tie. One on either end of the bundle of poles and I use the excess hanging off to twist it to the hand rail in the how of my boat.

those things are great for all kinds of uses…I use the shortest ones and wrap around the rod just above the reel seat to keep a plug from bouncing around and also quick identification of my gear versus someone else’s…and yes, I use the Clemson orange ones

Have to put a towel under the muddy ends, the shaking from the ride wore right through my deck topcoat.

Thanks for the advice. In my old Xpress it did not have rod boxes or jump seats and I used some PVC to build a 'Y" shape to hold them, but looks like they will be in the boat with this one. And yes the Straps will be orange. Thanks again
I’ve seen a lot of people make Y or U forms out of PVC that go in rod holders to strap them to. Looked like a good idea to me and cheap.

PVC as stated made into a squared off Y.
Growing old is MANDATORY, Growing up is OPTIONAL!
I use 4 drift master rod holders to hold mine up off the floor put them down one side. Then tie the poles to the rod holders… I had fiberglass poles and had no problems Plus when pulling poles after finish shrimping they would set in holders with no problem. Would take the front two off while shrimping to keep the net from tangling.

Yesterday was good.
Today is great.
But living for tomorrow.
Tie both ends together with a good strong cord, and then put your non net, banana throwing partner in the boat and let him hold the poles to and from the boat landing’s. His net throwing will drastically improve after a few trips.

I have many non net. taco throwing friends so this should be easy. Also, it seems like they want to throw just as soon as the shrimp get thick. I usually allow them to but it is so painful to watch. They will say look i caught about 40 and I will say look 200 escaped under that banana. Good times tho
I picked up a cheap bag/sack/tote (what ever you want to call it) from goodwill for a $1 to put over the muddy ends. Cheap, small, and will protect the boat from being beat to death during transport.
My 2 cents
If you make the pvc racks, tie your poles to the boat at each end to a cleat or grab rail. Every time I get into a heavy chop I end up snapping the the pvc. The pvc racks are very handy when pulling the poles or setting them out. I use 1" pvc to make U shaped racks and use 1 1/4" rod holders attached to the inside of the boat to drop them in.
