Transporting

I read all the posts on here under the search about transporting kayaks and I am not surprised that this never came up before. I drive a chevy cavalier for now and treat it like a truck for everything but dont have roof racks because I am getting a truck eventually. If I wanted to temporarily transport a kayak just short drives like 30 miles or less to the beach. What are some methods?

This may be stupid but would some towels down to protect kayak mainly and car with straps going through window and then bow and stern be adequate?

Or has anyone seen the inflatable roof rack? I know it sounds cheesy. http://www.gadgetvenue.com/inflatable-roof-rack-06253822/

I am going to hopefully talk to Dave Wed, but I have been brain storming and wanted to see what anyone thought.
Thanks

Foam blocks, hull tie down straps, and a strap/rope for the bow and stern. When you pick up the rental, I’ll have that stuff for you.

foam blocks and straps. Since I have a Miata, I needed a T bar at the back.

So much water, So little time

Too Busy,
If you’re looking for a T bar let me know I have one I don’t use enough and am looking to sell. The one that goes in a 2" receiver. Here’s a photo: http://www.orsracksdirect.com/yakima-8002589.html

I built my own because I have the smaller receiver on the Miata. Thanks anyway though.
