Wanted to thank anyone who is associated with the Trident tourney for the nice banquet again this year. Everyone always goes out of thier way to make it a great event and a nice tournament. The 7 hour round trip drive in the rain was interesting, though. One thing I was a bit disheartened by was the change in the rules regarding “shark” awards. In the past couple of years the committee has decided that only 1 award would be given for the “most outstanding shark”. In years past landing a shark made you eligible for any of the many “outstanding” awards including the youth award. In addition, they have now cut the two separate awards down from “outstanding offshore” and 'outstanding inshore" shark to just “outstanding shark”. I wish they would reconsider this as there are definately diffenent challenges in both that are completely different. I do realize that some folks don’t really consider sharks as sport fish. I can tell you that this is not the case. Hope the committee will revisit these decisions and consider the location/age/gender of the fisherman as well.
Overall, it’s a really cool tournament and I’m very appreciative that the fine folks that run it continue to do so and with little recognition.
