Headed out at sun up and figured I’d try some jigging, since the fish been pretty thick in the am. Checked out 2 humps and there was fish at both. Started out with a hopkin’s spoon and then a bucktail and never had a bite. The wind was perfect, and slowly pushed me right over where I wanted to be. Gave it about an hour, then headed in. If I couldn’t get them to bite with the FF looking like this I’d rather be back in bed.
They were thick yesterday evening around where you and I were fishing on Friday … running between 40 - 60 feet …
Fished them for about three hours and we only came up with 5 between 15 - 20 inches … RJ got to reel one up from start to finish so he was really happy … and we missed at least 10 - 12 others 'cause of no hook sets … we have to figure out what we’re doing wrong in that department - it was almost like as soon as the fish felt tension it let go … oh well …
we’ve just about got the “boat in and out” routine down pat, so we’ll be hitting the water a lot more often … or trying to at least!!
Now all we gotta do is get the “hook setting” down along with the “fish finding” and then we’ll really be in business … LOL - sounds easy, doesn’t it!!!
