loaded up with aquasport, his son mike and jordanonayak to kill some trigger fish. we could not avoid the very hungery and big bsb’s. we fished a half/doz great #s in 90/100’ and could not get bait past the bsb’s! we culled 16" fish all morning and easly landed well over 200 keepers. no triggers, bliners and only three pinks. the bass were coughing up a ton of bait as the bite was on, small bliners, sea slugs, crabs and every type of small fish in the ocean. we caught no grouper or ars but did not try, using chicken rigs with a #4 snelled hooks. saw some strange reports of few bites or slow bite, but we ran from the bsb bite all morning. back at the dock by 2:30 great day on the water with good friends.

If it got any better I couldn’t stand it.

YOU LIE!!! Did you not see what the SAFMC has said about these poor exploited / overfished seabass. You must have used blackfish traps or nets, or did you spear the last few remaining BSB’s on our coast. You ought to be ashamed of your self and tell PEW / SAFMC and even the CCA that you are sorry for this wanton slaughter!

Whoa whoa whoa, Sellsfish. This man caught some nice fish within the limits set by law. Let’s not give him a hard time for LEGALLY enjoying the resource. Just b/c some gov’t body says something doesn’t make it true anyway!!!

But the scientists and fish counters at the SAFMC said that they are no more sea bass, in fact they are going to close them down in a week or two…Who should I believe?? The local fisherman that are out there all the time and have ACCURATE catch data from one year to the next, or some federal scientist that has NEVER been fishing for BSB’s and is funded by an environmental group?

Mike it was nice meeting you and your son. I had a great time and it was nice to limit out by noon on a good boat with a relaxed crew. Ed it was great fishing as usual. If only we can thin out these BSBs a little we may have a shot at the trigger fish that we were targeting. Lets get this winter over with and get back to diving.
