Trim bogging down

I have been having some issues with the trim on my 2006 4 stroke 115 yamaha. The trim is real slow to start with bit once you move it up or down it seems to work ok, not perfect. Boggs down when trimming all the way down and sometimes as I first start trimming it up. Fluid level is fine as I checked and shop changed the fluid out.

I took it to the shop this week and they told me that without tearing into it, that there was no real good fix. They recommended that I use it until it quits completely and then buy a new assembly or either a refurbished one. After looking at the price of a new tilt/trim assembly, it broke my heart.

I have the boat at home and will try to post a video this weekend of how it’s acting. I am wondering if there is a good way to determine where to start if I were to decide to break this thing down.

Looking for any advice.

Loaded Videos First video is after motor sat since Thursday. Second video is second time running trim up and down. Seems to get better each time I trim it up and down until it sits.

I wouldn’t wait until it breaks completely, because then you may have to replace it
it should definitely be rebuildable
not sure the exact cost until we find the problem, but labor would be no more than $500

Thanks for the response Chris. I attached two videos to the original post for comments.

I WAS TOLD BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF MY BOAT THE THE TRIM PUMP PARTS WERE NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT… I ALSO VERIFIED THROUGH SEVERAL LOCAL DEALERS THAT THIS WAS TRUE… CHRIS V AND CHARLESTON MARINE PROVED THEM ALL WRONG… MY TRIM PUMP WORKS BETTER THAN NEW AND I AM COMPLETELY SATISFIED WITH THEIR WORK AND THEIR PRICES ARE GREAT TOO…

A bad day fishing is much better than a good day at work.
