I have a 2012 Yamaha F115. It’s getting to where the engine doesn’t want to trim up. Trimming down is no problem. The issue occurs at both the throttle and at the tilt switch on the engine. Darn thing is to new to be having problems. Anyone experienced similar problem? Advice much appreciated. I assume this would be a warranty issue.
I recently experienced the same thing on a brand new F90. After some troubleshooting it turned out to be a bad factory bullet connector in the harness. On the blue wire. Try jumping 12V to the blue wire and see what happens. I like their trim wire colors, blue is up, like the sky, green is down, like the grass.

I have a 2006 that was acting the same way. I could put my hand under the foot and pull up on the motor while trimming up and it would creep up. Trimming down was no problem. There is a tremendous amount of weight on the trim motor while its going up. I ended up replacing the trim motor myself. Rusty bolts required me to take the entire trim assembly to a machine shop to remove two of the bolts that I wrang off while removing the old one.
If you have a warranty left, definetly take it to a shop and have it diagnosed. It’s hard to imagine that the trim motor is already bad in your motor. Maybe someone else will chime in.

You mean the harness up by the throttle?
it should be under warranty
bring it to a dealer
don’t mess with it, and cause more issue that may not be covered under warranty
sounds like there is an issue with the up portion of the solinoid

Yes, but now that I’ve re-read your question I don’t think that will be the problem with yours. The tilt switch on my engine was working fine and the throttle switch was not. Your problem is further downstream than that. Still should be easy to troubleshoot. Probably something simple. If it’s in warranty I’d take it to the dealer as Chris said. In my case the dealer (Chris) is 200 miles round trip, so I’m going to do some testing of my own before making that drive

Chris,
What’s your backlog right now?
My 2003 f-115 is doing the same thing. Initially it was making a creaking noise going up. I added some fluid and greased the fittings. It then worked fine for a couple trips. Then parked it for about 3-4 weeks and the motor in the full down position. Tried to raise it by the switch on the motor and it barely raised until finally refusing to go any further, despite the motor running. Every time I open the fluid port I get a large piiiisst of air. Could it be air in the line? Just dropped mine off at a dealer up here in Greenville for them to check as I need it for mid june at the beach. Praying .
