Trim Pump Leaking Down

I have a 1995 Mercury 115. The Trim works, but leaks down. This motor came with two different trim assemblies, one with a black fill plug, one with a yellow fill plug. They no longer sell rebuild kits for the black plug version, which I have. The parts for the yellow plug version are not interchangable.

They sell a new pump Assembly for $900, which just isnt an option right now. Does anyone have a source for aftermarket pumps or parts or know of someone who may be able to repair the one I have?

If it ‘leaks’ down, you probably don’t have a pump problem. You have a seal problem. I have had some success in that past in removing o-ring seals from failing equipment and going somewhere like Charleston Rubber and Gasket and buying a few that are about the same size. Then, try to fit each. Use the tightest fit you can without it being so tight that you can’t reassemble without pinching the o-ring.

Yeah, thats what I meant to say. I can’t imagine why Mercury would stop selling a O-ring kit for a trim pump. Just my luck I guess. I will remove it from the boat and take it apart and see what I need. Thanks!!
