Trim swivel pin

The pin that secures the upper end of the trim ram to the swivel bracket started walking out. Of course, I didn’t know it until the damage was already done. It dented my trim motor.

It looks like this may have been caused by the bolt securing the pin coming loose, and the busings in the bracket being worn/ broken.

It’s a 2002 optimax 225.

All the parts appear to be available, so fixing it shouldn’t be too bad.

Do I need to bleed any pressure from the system before removing the pump, or just trim it up and take the bolts out?
Should I press the pin bushings in with a c-clamp or is there a better way?

I just need this motor to last a little longer, but I would prefer that the next owner have a properly maintained unit. I’m thinking that the repower is coming up faster than I originally planned.

just tap the bushings back in, tap the pin in, but the part that holds the pin in place, isn’t a bolt, its a tapered pin.
pretty straight forward job, and there is not any pressure on the electric motor portion of the system.

IF I RESPOND IN ALL CAPS, ITS NOT ON PURPOSE, AND I AM NOT YELLING

Thanks for the tip. I put in all the small parts and a new trim motor for $200, and it wasn’t as hard as it looked. The bushings popped right out with a couple taps.
