working on installing a set of Lenco 9x12 trim tabs. The installation manual says outer edge of hinge should be within 1-4" of outer edge of hull, and may overlap a strake as long as edge of tab is no closer than 2" from the edge of the strake.
Problem is, due to the spacing of the chine/strakes on my boat, I can’t meet both of these criteria exactly. So which is more important? as of now I’m thinking I’ll position the tabs with the inboard edge about 2" inboard of strake “edge” (really the centerline, as shown in pic and manual), which would put the outboard edge about 4.5" from edge of hull. some pictures:
can barely see them, but layout marks indicate key dimensions:
this is what I’m thinking:
so this puts inboard edge here:
and outboard edge here:
Any thoughts before I start drilling holes in my transom?
Looks good to go. Put accuator on to see where it lands and make sure where wire comes thru that you can get to it and not hit anything when you drill thru transom
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day. FISH 24/7---- 25 Grady w/ a couple of Gas Guzzling 175 Johnsons “O-SEA-D” the old “Havanadaydream”
