Trim / Tilt Question

Have a 1998 Yamaha 150 HP 2 stroke. Engine runs fine, but over the weekend had issue with trim and tilt. Can hear trim and tilt motor working when button is pushed but we have to manually help to lift the engine to up position. As soon as we let go and / or stop pushing button, the engine slowly returns to the down position. Checked the fluid level and it is full and checked the relief screw and it is in correct position. Any suggestions what to check next? Thanks for input.

Sounds to me like the cylinder is leaking by.

Ask me no questions I’ll tell you no lies.

same problem last year on my 2000 150. cylinder needs to be replaced.

What stinks about that is until its apart there is no way of knowing if it is an internal valve not seating or just an o-ring on the piston sub assembly. It will need to come off though and disassembled. Could be a $5 oring of a $600 rebuild. Labor will not be cheap wither way. Sorry Traebaum.

Let me know how it works out. I can refer a shop if you don’t have one you go to already.
