Tripletail 8/4

Fished around low tide Saturday on the Calibogue. It was rougher than I like and had to dodge some rain but I didn’t get skunked. The biggest one was 14.6 lb. according to the bathroom scales back at the house. Live shrimp under a popping cork.

Man that’s awesome! Congrats on a great catch!

Nice catch !
Just interested to know, when you cleaned it did you check his stomach.
The one I’ve caught in the past in Winyah bay have been jam full of small grass shrimp.
Like they just hung out in the grass and sucked me down for hours.
I’ve caught mine the same way u described.

Thanks Kenneth. No I didn’t check the stomach. I’ll have to remember that next time. Do you catch them regularly in Winyah Bay?

I never come across the big ones ready! It’s usually en route to n inlet.
I almost dip netted one one time in the bay
I have caught one that was around five pounds and had at least a 100 tiny shrimp in its gut. Delicious meat.
I have friends that run charters and will set buoys with the intent of giving them an ambush point.
I’ve probably seen twenty bream sized ones this year.
If your ever riding and see a black spot that resembles a grocery bag turn around u might get lucky

excellent post. thank you.

N Inlet is one of my favorite places on earth. Jones creek to get there from Winyaw Bay. The rule used to be 1/3 right except for a place or two. Georgetown as well. Great place.
