Anyone with any input? Reading about fishing buoys in FL. I’m not sure if this works here.

last one I caught was on a menhaden under a popping cork up by south goat island…just saying. It ate good too.

They are likely to be around any buoy or floating object offshore. Throw a bait at everything you find floating.

We see a few small ones around floating objects offshore, last trip we saw a 12 inch one inside of a floating bucket. They are a sucker for a live shrimp. Much better luck if you fish south around Hilton head or off of Georgia look behind crab pot floats

there are some guides that have been catching more and more of them N of charleston harbor… dont know if they are just figuring it out more or there are more of them around the last few years. i have been thinking about spending a day running and gunning looking for them, just seems that its more of a hero or zero mission than anything else i can think of
maybe just get lucky and catch one out of the blue every few years and be happy with the novelty…

I wonder if slack tide is best or if it matters

I dont known how they are here. Fishing and crabbing in Fl , in the Indian River they are around crab trap buoys like Sellsfish said .
