What do you guys know about tripletails in regard to regulations in SC. I can’t find anything in the reg book about size and creel limits. I have only caught two in my entire time fishing, and last night was the biggest one I have caught. Although I did not weight the fish, it was at least 7-8 pounds.
Can’t find anything in the regs but found this:

If you need to hide the evidence, I got a pan and some sides.
Here is the pic.

Heard of two being caught on rod and reel up the Cooper last week. I ate one of them after it was donated to me. That one your holding would go about 5 pounds. Nice fish.
Gigged one last year, good eating
Local Boy, Just having fun.
Cool. I have read that tripletails are very good eating. I’m going to cook this one up one day and find out for myself. I think it will be hard to beat a trout or flounder though. Thanks.

Tripletail are much better than trout and reds IMO, at least as good as flounder. I stuck one one night that snatched me out of the boat, it was either turn loose of the gig or jump in after it, so I jumped in and chased it down. Glad I had shoes on! Fantastic eating.

Very shrewd of you to ask that question before posting a picture of you holding it Nice TT

Ha,ha…That’s funny Cracker. I never had that happen with a tripletail, but I had it happen with a about a 4 foot redfish back before the slot was on them. Back then, I used a douglas fur pole on my gigs, and instead of snatching me out the boat, the rascal ran into the side of the boat and broke the gig off against the boat. It got my blood pressure going for sure (ha,ha).

Well; I had one once that jumped clean over the boat, pulled me up a water fall… (Wait, that’s an old Miller Lite Commercial)
Never mind…
