Left Edisto with my old college buddy, his daughter and son, my son and his roommate. 3 of the 6 on their first trip offshore. I had promised them a nice ride based on the forecast but were greeted with sloppy and confused seas but not too bad. Put lines in at 140ft and headed out. Picked up 2 nice blackfin quickly, lost a nice dolphin near the boat and had a big run but lost one that bit through the mono. Got two more mahi at the ledge and a nice king and mahi in around 200ft. Worked out to 300 with a few short strikes. Water turned darker so we ran back to 200 and headed in. It had been a good day with all the newbies getting to pull in multiple fish. Just as we were commenting that we needed a daymaker, the port rigger popped and the rod started screaming. After several big runs a big wahoo came over the rail. Got a couple more dolphin around 140 ft and then ran in to a real nice ocean. Really pretty blue water around 140ft. Prob shoudl have stayed there all day. Temps around 81-82 most all day. Most action on WWB green and yellow lure. Crew was great.
