headed out @6am tried trolling in about 120 ft. only one short strike. plenty of fliers around but nothing else? tried bottom fishing around the Y-73 area. first time out this way couldn’t get over a good spot due to waves. caught some sand bass and one BIG porgy looking thing. also caught some weird looking fish. about 10-12 in. with yellow orange and red coloring. anyone have a clue? Did also help out stranded boater who lost power gave him a jump and he followed us in. not sure what the problem was motor started on the first jump. maybe corroded terminals? oh well at least they got in safe. anyone else catch out there today? hopefully next time. catch um up…Mike

That’s a spotfin hogfish, Bodianus pulchellus, which is a wrasse.
Creole fish are serranids (groupers, seabasses).
Nevermind, I was looking at the picture above.
I was thinking some type of wrasse also, but couldn’t find a picture of one that looked like the one I caught.
Cuban Hogfish
I believe that is a Spanish Hogfish (probably the same as a Cuban hogfish) Just got back from the bahamas a couple weeks ago and those things were all over the reefs

Spanish hogfish are blue and yellow and usually grow a little larger than their Spanish cousins. I fished and dove throughout South Fla and the Bahamas for 35 years and use to collect them for the aquarium trade. They are also good table fare as adults. They are related to the hogfish that spear fishermen seek.
