Trolling Hartwell Sat am

Finally had time to hit the water for a few hours today. No live bait just trolling with downriggers and leadcore line. Thought the wife was going to go but she rolled back over so that put me a little behind schedule but no big deal.

Left Portman and headed to the dam to troll the big water and channels. Was at the dam around 6:45 and had lines in and right off the bat picked up one 6lber on downrigger set at 60’. Pulled another couple of hours and picked up another about same size and same depth.

Left to head home around 11am, kind of expected to catch more and did not mark a lot of fish but was surprised to catch them so deep.

Nice report. Weren’t they tearing them up on U’rigs, this time last year? Glad you made it in before this T-storm hit!

I have a bunch of u rigs but for some reason I never fish them much, when I do I have caught fish but for some reason I just do not screw with them. I talked with Capt Mack Farr and he told me how to run them off of downriggers and I may try that.

I did not see a T storm, heard them mention may have some today and more of a chance Sunday pm.

I had a bilge pump not working and actually had a brand new one in the box at home and wanted to get that installed, for some reason I get water in my bilge and I can not figure out for the life of me where it comes from. I came home and installed new pump, acutally went with a larger one, and now I have to tun to WM to get some heat shrink connections the ones I have are not for this size wire.

Probably will hit the water next Fri again and then I get to head to IOP and chase some kings and anything else.

Really want to hook up with a tarpon more than anything.
