I have a MinKota 80 lbs saltwater trolling motor. The controller burnt due to a loose connection.
Bought a new controller at $140, lasted one trip now it won’t function.
What is a good work around for this to have the motor work on a couple of speeds one direction only?
Thanks
Maybe check for another loose connection. Sometimes those spade connectors will spread from being taken off and on a couple of times along with the vibrations from riding on the front of the boat. Then consider if it was loose and arcing while trying to operate then there’s potential of an overheated wire and possible degradation of the terminal or wire itself… many variables here… look hard and do a smell test too. You can usually smell burned electrical parts. Hope this helps

UNFORTUNATELY, THERE ISNT A GOOD WORK AROUND
THE ONLY THING YOU COULD DO, WOULD BE WIDE OPEN ON OR OFF, AND THAT WOULD BE MOSTLY UNUSABLE IN MY OPINION.
A LOWER UNIT PULLING TO MANY AMPS WILL CAUSE THE CONTROL BOARD TO FAIL.
