Trolling motor install and cost?

Who has had a trolling motor installed locally and what was the cost.

Call Chris at Charleston Marine. He did a great job on mine!

I just ordered a trolling motor and there is a 7 week backorder from Minn Kota. I about fell over. But I have heard Chris at Charleston Marine is the man and he has been great with responses to questions I’ve had on here.

Mine was on back order too. They shipped it 2 weeks early. I hope you have the same luck.

Thanks guys!

I believe Chris V is the dealer and warranty shop for Minn Kota.

Give him a call before ordering, he may be able to beat/price match.

Dear Hook…$100/hr. is a standard labor charge these days. You can easily spend a couple grand on a trolling motor. I’d budget $3000.00, and hope it’s less. $3K will buy a lot of anchors and chain, but a lot of people swear by them. I’m old school…rather spend that kind of money on a guided duck hunt in Alberta Canada.

Crushing the bank with a trolling motor is much easier then with an anchor. And now, anchoring is easier with a trolling motor. This has been beat to death on another post. $2800 for trolling motor, $1000 for wiring and batteries. $100pr hour on labor seems cheap.

Hey Reeldawg…You are correct. The modern day trolling motor is far superior to the standard anchor. It certainly is a great tool for following pods of fish along a bank, or sitting still while casting to sighted fish. The “crushing” part is somewhat personal. “To crush, or not to crush” is an arbitrary approach to the enjoyment of fishing. To me, “the crush” went out of my fishing objective many years ago. I enjoy the excitement of the tug, and the landing of a quality fish. I’m more excited about landing a flounder than a spottail, and way less excited about a bonnethead or ladyfish. All of my experience with "crushing’ has been with an old dansforth stuck in the plough mud. Some pretty awesome “crushing” I might add.
I’m just not interested in hanging $3000.00 worth of “contraption” on the bow of my classic restored Mako. It would be ugly and out of place on my boat, and I like having a clean classic look. And I like to duck hunt a little more than fishing.

Meant to say cruise. Dang apple spellcheck. I’ve got a Grady and it’s getting a trolling motor. Might look dumb but it will make my life a lot easier. I’m getting old and lazy. plus it’s a tool to make my fishing experience more enjoyable and more rewarding. They make quick release mounts that only leave a small square piece of plastic on the boat.
