Hey guys,
Debating between paying a shop to install my TM or doing it myself. I have the Minn Kota Terrova 36v. I was going to bring the boat to Pioneer in Walterboro because they offered a really cheap install price. But with scheduling issues, that means I wouldn't be able to drop the boat off until mid month. Would really like to get this installed, just curious how difficult it was for anyone that had done it?

It’s not a difficult project depending on your own mechanical abilities. The issue is do you have all the proper fittings and wire and shrink tube and fasteners and drill bits and so forth and so on… It might cost you more time and money to acquire all the correct install materials over having it done by a shop. Weigh your options and take it from there. If you have electrical questions I’m sure I could help. Good luck and keep us posted.

I appreciate that Stump. I think I’m just going to drop the boat at Pioneer. I need hole saws and several other items which will add up quickly. Plus they do these regularly.

Who are the shops that do installs? I know Charleston Marine does but any others? I’m having a hell of a time getting in touch with Pioneer.

Pioneer has a video on their website about installing a Minn Kota trolling motor.
According to the service director at Minn Kota, the way they are installing the motor is NOT an approved install.
We are Charleston’s only Minn Kota authorized service center, and we install a lot of trolling motors. We install according to Minn Kota standards. here is a picture of what we normally do when the motor isn’t a standard install.
