Trolling motor installation Help Needed!!

ok, trying to install my trolling motor (60" 82 lb. thrust Motor Guide) onto 17’ seahunt. Before drilling holes into deck, BlanketOrder and I held the bracket in place where we thought we wanted it, put the motor in the mount, and tried to “deploy” and “stowe” the motor to insure adequate clearances. I have the shaft in the “all the way down” position in the collar that holds the shaft so that the handle doesn’t stick too far out the side of the boat when stowed. When I try to deploy, the motor end and the shaft slide across the bracket and side of the boat, instead of lifting and clearing like I think it is supposed to. I can’t figure out why. Anybody who has this TM on a bay boat and deploys it in the down position, does the shaft and motor lift up and clear everything while in transition?

There is a plastic sleeve that goes around the shaft in the mount. It holds the motor straight. It was probably loose in the box. It won’t tighten without the sleeve.

If you ain’t hooked, you ain’t doing it right.

Edit: This may not work. I’ve got a Minn Kota also and I may be thinking of it.
