Trolling Motor Interference

I have noticed interference from the trolling motor showing up on the Hummingbird when the motor is running. I have the trolling motor batteries under the console and the cranking battery is in a stern compartment, so I ran the Hummingbird power to one on the trolling motor batteries for convience and for not having to worry about cranking battery drain. Is there a simple and inexpensive way to eliminate this without moving the HB power to the cranking battery? Maybe a noise filter?

In the pics below, you can see when I powered up the TM and then off.

I doubt it. Maybe some kind of filter, but I don’t know what. I’d put the HBird on a different battery from the TM. It’s current draw is only in milli-amps, it would take it weeks to kill a battery. Just as a test when I first got mine I hooked it up to a little lawn mower battery in my shop and it ran for over a week.

Yeah, its going to be tough getting any more wire through the chase going to the back compartment, it is packed full. Maybe I can find somewhere to tap in to power in the console.

No need for that at all, just pick up your 12V inside the console. It must have some type of power buss or fuse panel that you can tie into. Or hook it directly to the ignition switch power.

If cracker ran his for a week on a lawn mower battery just buy one & hook to it. They only cost $25 or so. Might be easier fix then trying to tap into other hot wires.

Can’t beat those 20 $ lawnmower batterys! I run my bait tank aireator with one for over 24 hrs!
