trolling motor plug protection

yall i have no cooridination. i keep stepping on where my trolling plug goes into the recepticle and breaking the little pins inside the plug. so i have been thinking of trying to rig something to protect it from myself. it plugs into the bow of a g3 jon boat. any ideas from the gurus.

or just relocate the plug assembly to a more convenient spot. you can always place a cover plate over or patch the old hole location.

A good bit of bass boat applications are not using plugs anymore. They have a “union” inside the boat, the wires go thru the hole where your plug would be thru a clean looking grommet or cap then join a junction just behind the panel. The only thing that sucks is it makes it tough to use a quick release bracket.

“Well worth the drive!”

hey i had not thought about moving the plug or direct wire. i was going to “protect” it from myself by either attaching some aluminum as a roof over the top or cut a 4x4 “collar” and velcro the 4x4 to the floor. i’m now leaning towards “hot wiring” it through the hole. i dont have a quick release bracket. the trouble with moving it is that i will still be able to step on that sucker somehow, i think. all ideas are greatly appreciated. thanks
