Trolling motor suggestion?

I have a 22’ Century CC with a manuel Minn Kota 55lb. 48" shaft. I am wanting to purchanse a Minn Kota IPilot Rip Tide. Does anyone know the difference in ST and SP? Should I move to a 80lb.?

The SP only goes to 70# of thrust. I am looking at a trolling motor as well. I have a 22’ Sea Hunt Bay Boat. All of the guides and information I have found say 70# is enough, but I am not sure if it is. I don’t know if the evaluation considers trying to maintain position in a tidal zone such as Hilton Head where one can experience a 10’ swing in level.
I am not sure where you fish, but the tides can be a significant factor in the type and strength actually needed.
Keep us posted please. I am interested to see what you find out and what others might post.

ive never heard anyone complain that they had to much power. on the other hand i have had many complaint to the contrary.
get the 80# ipilot and you will never regret it.
get an onboard charger and 2 good deepcycle group 27 batteries

It seems the sp uses GPS and the st uses a compass to guide it in auto pilot.

11 Bowtech Destroyer
Remington 700 30-06

the SP and the ST can both be I-pilot (gps) or autopilot (compass)
ST is an upgrade over teh SP
if you look at teh freshwater motors, its easier to see the difference
the SP is the saltweter prodrive
the ST is teh saltwater Terrova
