Trolling Motor Suggestions

I have a new 1900 Tidewater bay max on the way. I would appreciate any suggestions for a quick removal trolling motor.

Saltwater…does it matter
Thrust…how much

and any other comments appreciated.

Thanks Ken

Minn Kota iPilot 24 volt 80lb thrust with the quick release bracket. The best you can get!!!. I have a 20 foot Deep V hull and need to 36 volt 101 lb thrust.

You can get by with less than an 80 if money is tight, but 80’s great for high current. The QD bracket is essential but will add a hundred bucks to the already 1200+ ipilot, I converted my copilot to pilot, ill never go back.

Stick with the 24 volt. And definitely go with the ipilot. Worth every penny.

I have a light skinny 17’ boat with the 55# 12 volt, and in a swift tide it will pull my boat at 1 mph on high. Not ideal if you need get out the way in a hurry, and with your size boat it might not even move in a strong tide.

Get the 24 volt and don’t look back. Its only like $100 more. I haven’t found a need to have mine removable yet. I kind of like the idea that it is really hard to take off. With the QD mount all it takes is someone with a battery powered grinder and they have your motor in 10 seconds. With mine they have to remove 4 screws, take off 4 bolts and then cut the power cord. But I keep mine in the garage too so no worries there.

80# regardless of remote or manual, don’t go less than 80#
I-pilot with the quick disconnect

Geronimo, I think the idea of the quick disconnect, it so YOU can remove the trolling motor and store it safely.

Another advantage to the QD mount is being able to take off the motor if your just out cruising

Thanks to all for helping make my decision. I appreciate and respect all here with your experience.

Thanks again Ken
