Trolling Motor

Guys, I am getting a transom mount trolling motor and putting it on a Garelick plate so it is removable…

My question is, it is a Minn Kota Vector, and I was wondering how long you can expect a 12-volt deep cycle, I guess average around 60 amp hours or so, to last driving a trolling motor…anyone with any experience with this? I am looking for literature about the amp draw on these but not having luck.

Thanks,
Jamie

Let me clarify, I know that it is easy to find the max amp draw (50 on the 55-lb thrust I am getting), but I know they draw at variable rates depending on which of the 5 speed settings you are using…that is the kind of information I am looking for, because I think I’ll be using the lower speeds mostly.

does the vector have minn kota’s digital power maximizer thing? if so, then even at a steady speed it will vary the power drain.

in practice, my 40# minn kota will last upwards of 8 hours sharing power with my bait tank. without the battery being on a full charge. on a full charge, i’ve used it for 6 hours with BT and TM, then at least 8 hours BT only (while we tried to keep the herring alive in the garage) and another 6 hours BT and TM the next morning. still had charge when we left the water.

sorry i can’t be more technical.

Yeah, the some of the vector models do, some don’t…I think I am goign to get a Maxxum instead of Vector anyway, which they all do. That is good news. I am going to get a nice Trojan 85 amp-hour deep cycle and it is solely going to be used by the trolling motor…so I think I should be fine for a day on the water most likely. everything else I have is hooked up to a different battery.
