I have a 19 foot bay Scout. I am going to get a trolling motor this spring and I have decided that I want a Minn Kota. Problem is, there are so many models I am havin trouble deciding which one. I either want the sm or the st. Does any one have either of these that they could tell me the pros and cons of each. Thanks in advance for your response.

I don’t know how reliable it is because I have only had it for a year. But so far, I absolutely love it. I have the sp model. You can also get a wireless foot pad which I plan on getting sometime soon. So nice to be anywhere you want on the boat and be able to control it. I fish by myself sometimes and can’t imagine how I fished without it before. Oh yeah, I remember, I anchored up a lot! Good luck

I’ve a MK Riptide 12V 55 and a 24V 110, both run by handheld remotes. No problems and 2 remotes are > 3yrs. old. One fell in creek and still works fine. They are HANDHELD devices so can be a minor challenge to change speed or direction when casting, retrieving, or reeling in fish. I’d get a footpedal too.
