Trolling Motor?

Been thinking about adding a trolling motor to my 17’ seapro cc, curious as to what size I should be looking at? I’ve got two batteries in the back of my boat, and have another area under my console to hook up another battery which i think is for a trolling motor.

Just added a Minn Kota Riptide SP 70lb 24v to my 2000 SeaPro 170cc. I’m in love!

I splurged for the I-pilot and am glad I did, it is incredible but not cheap. The 70lbs of thrust move the boat really well. The last few days I’ve had the current moving one direction and a strong wind blowing against the current and I’ve had no problems holding a position nor moving the boat however I wanted. While I was researching I found many people suggest a 55lb would be enough, I opted for more power and more battery life with the 24v.

What model is your boat? 170cc or 1700 bay (if they even made a 1700 in 2001…) My 170cc doesn’t have much room on the bow but was I able to use the minn kota RTA-17 removable mount and am really happy with how it turned out.

I’ll try to post a few pics later or… sent me a PM and I’ll be happy to show you and talk trolling motors with you at my place. I’m in Park Circle.

Thanks for the info Dave, I’ve got the same boat. I was worried about space on the front to mount it, do you have it on two batteries?

Yes, the 24v system requires two batteries for just the trolling motor. I actually have three batteries under the center console; one for starter and all electronics and two for the trolling motor.

Ok, I’ve got two batteries in the back of the boat already for the starter and electronics. There is a hook up for a battery under the console and I think it is specifically for a trolling motor. I’m going to PM you.
