I have the age old question. Motorguide or Minnkota, tiller or gps model. The boat is a 2001 Pathfinder 2200V.
Minn Kota -
Better warranty, better service under warranty
Composite Shaft
Lighter
Tiller if your cheap like me
GPS model if you want all the bells & whitsles

M/C only way to go 80# I pilot!!
You should go with a 36 volt setup for that size boat
I have mine on a 23’ Robolo, no problems yet! Would like the 36V but that means another battery!
MK IPilot is the cat’s meow!! Make sure you get the long shaft though.
I have heard that the MG is quieter then MK! I’ve been looking to get one also.
I have a 2008 Pathfinder 2200 with a Ttop and plastic. The 24v 80# MinnKota iPilot I have will hold me in a 15mph wind…enough said.

My Motor Guide is–without a doubt–quieter, tougher, and runs shallower than my Minn Kota, but it isn’t as pretty. As for the shaft, I shattered one of those “indestructible” carbon shafts on the Minn Kota. Then again, I also bent a steel shaft on a MG. I’m rough on them. As for service, I rebuilt my most recent Motor Guide myself with parts I ordered for cheap on the internet. As for style, I prefer the tiller hands down. The autopilot and digital foot-controlled models are not quick enough for me. The mechanical foot-controlled units are OK, but if you stand, they’ll throw you in the water eventually.

Thanks, Lee! I want to put one on my KW but I looked at them and the Min Kota I Pilot will only interface with a Humming Bird. I have Garmin on the boat and MG has an interface cable that will work with it! I do have a Lowrance HDS if I go with the MG. The MK has a smaller mounting footprint than the MG and that is also a consideration.
The smaller mounting footprint was the deciding factor for the Waterman.

Anyone know if the I Pilot has side scan? What is the cone of scan? I hope not straight down, like 20/30 degrees! I want something like side scan and down!
The universal transducer built into the MK is a plain jane one. No side scan. You’ll have to strap one onto the lower unit of your TM to get side scan.
off topic but lee thanks for talking with me a few minutes a couple day ago. The guys had a question in offshore discussion i thought you may be able to shed some light on
minn kota 80# would be minimum for that boat
if you have room for a 3rd battery I would go with the 112
I just recently put an I-pilot on my backcountry, and after fishing with it, I wouldn’t think of owning an inshore boat without one.
