What’s your thoughts on fishing during full moon.
I have been bottom fishing on a full moon, marking stacks of fish, and could not get a single fish to bite. Most frustrating (**() thing I have ever experienced.
Went offshore a few years back on a full moon, pulled up at the Hole around 445am. Due to a slick ocean and a moon that lit up the world like the sun we made better time than I was expecting. Figured we would go ahead and put four lines out in the dark and idle around. Had six blackfin in the boat before 5:30am and ended the day with 32 dolphin. We had to use a spotlight to gaff the blackfin. Every single fish was caught before 11am. After that the bite shut down and we picked up and headed home around 2pm.
I think the benefit to trolling the full moon offshore is not so much the light of the moon itself but the increased tidal current. With stronger tides you get better current rips for weeds and debris to gather and this does a better job of congregating baitfish etc. I’m not really a professional bottom fisherman so my limited knowledge guess would be that the fish feed all night by the light of the moon and don’t care to eat during the day.

Unfortunately I can’t leave the dock till 7:30. I’m going to start late, and stay late. I hope they want to chew in the afternoon.
Touche,
You got a crew?? You wanna come with us Friday? Got room for one more.
Unfortunately, I’ve got a bachelor party I’m entertaining this weekend. We are going to fish Friday or Sat depending on the weather. Which boat are you guys taking?

Going on the Scout. With the supposed nice weather, I am going to use the extra 1500 I would spend on fuel on other things…ha ha.
You can contribute to the bachelor party…
