Trolling Questions

I just got a new (to me) kayak, and I’m trying to figure out a few things before I rig it up.

When using the rod holders behind the seat, how do you tell when you get a strike? Do you just set the drag really loose so that you hear it start to peel off?

You will hear that thrilling zzzzzziiiiiinnnnnnggggg sound. Of course you may just be hung up.

“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”.

You’ll feel the rod twitch even with a small trout. Rods in holders transmit to the hull pretty well.
Hook a big red and everyone in shouting distance will know

Boat drinks, Waitress I need 2 more boat drinks!

I loosen the drag on my reels when I troll. Trout have fragile mouths - you can lose them if drag is too tight and hook pulls out when they hit.
