trolling rig?

anyone ever try a trolling rig from a kayak? ive put a spoon behind a 3oz trolling weight and caught shad with it but considering redneck rigging a “downrigger” (get heavy weight and downrigger clip, lower to desired depth, tie off on cleat attached to kayak) and paddling around a river mouth for trout and spanish or other suggested rigs but id like some input from others if theyve pulled off yak trolling before. any thoughts?

I like to troll for trout. Just a standard jighead and paddletail lure will work. When we were down in Florida, and fishing offshore, we trolled cigar minnows on wire king mackerel rigs, and were catching spanish mackerel…that was fun. I want to try more offshore trolling next year when the spanish start running again.

found a big inlet similar to breach but much wider and ive read several sources that say tarpon run through in the fall with the mullet run so if tarpon go in id have to wonder about spanish or maybe a king or two. if not then trout be in there for sure. knowing my luck though id troll a cigar minnow or finger mullet and get yanked in reverse very, very quickly by a big silver torpedo haha.
