Woke up about 8:00am and we made our way to Haddrell’s about 8:30 to pick up some shrimp and fiddlers because we weren’t feeling up to catching bait ourselves. Got to the landing at the IOP marina about a half hour past low. Went South today back past the connector towards the Breech Inlet area. Stopped at a spot that had worked for us last week and landed about 8-9 trout, all 14.5-17 inches. We kept two 16 inchers to go with our lb of shrimp we bought the day before. Next we tried a few new spots as well as some we’d fished before. Caught a few more trout plus a sheep that was only about 9 inches. Decided to call it a day after trying one more place that only got us a few small trout.
Got back to the landing about 4:00. Took a nice hot shower and then at the last minute I wanted to go try and catch a red since all we landed were trout and a sheep. Headed towards a place in Wild Dunes and caught one nice fighter of a red that was only about 18 inches. Overall, great day on the water fishing with my dad.
Oh yeah, and the ribeye with shrimp and fresh trout was a hell of a way to end the day.
