Trout After a Storm

It’s been my experience that after a big storm comes through, it takes the trout a week or ten days to settle back into their normal routine. This past week was no different. Some buddies from Manning, SC, came to go trout fishing. Unfortunately, they came on the heels of a big storm that churned up the water quite a bit. After four days of coming in with clean ice, they say, “To heck with this! We’re going tuna fishing.” I told them not to lose faith, but they were having none of it. So, I went trout fishing by myself while they went tuna fishing. I went back to the exact same place we’d been beating to a froth for several days. I fished the same bait the same way. The only difference was that ten days had passed since the big blow. I caught a nice mess of trout, and they did not catch any tuna. You’ve gotta keep the faith…and it really helps to be where the fish are and be then when they decide to bite. Do those two things and fishing is easy.
