I really haven’t fished much these last two years, but got out this past weekend. I would much rather catch 20 trout than three reds so that was my target. Started at high tide on Saturday and threw the DOA and cork at a few of my honey holes. 4 trout at my first stop, but only one keeper; she went back in the drink with the dinks. Next up was my redfish spot. Surprisingly, I busted 5 trout in about 15 minutes. I usually don’t catch trout there. I was in about 3 feet of water and popping the cork 10’ from the boat when I noticed 4 slobs under the nose of my boat. I made the shrimp move and one went over and mouthed it. It started moving off slowly while I was thinking “This fish is too big for my trout rod”. I attempted to raise the trolling motor so as not to hang the fish when I put pressure on it and they bolted. Luckily, the cork stopped moving and they were gone. I got to see them and fool one without leaving hardware in his mouth so I was good with that. Moved to old faithfull and busted two more trout, one at 17". Tried a new spot on sunday with really dirty water and a sunburn from the previous day. One dink trout in 1 1/2 hrs. I’ll be ready for this weekend. hopefully with some live shrimp.
Good luck!
Glad to read that you got to go fishing…hope you tear them up this weekend,!!!
