Trout and Sheepshead

On Friday, at 8:00 AM, a friend and I were looking for trout. I noticed birds diving pretty feverishly out in the middle of a bay. I eased over with the trolling motor to investigate. I stopped a little short of the activity and started casting. I let the wind push me slowly toward where I had seen most of the activity. Then, I put down the power pole. Water was about 3-4’ deep. By 10:45, we had caught 20 trout and 46 sheepshead. I was surprised to find such a big school of sheepshead in a bay with no structure. It was one of the very few times I left the fish biting, but my fish box was absolutely full.

Interesting about the sheeps? Like my 8th grade math teacher said so often. The more I learn the less I know. What did the sheepshead hit?

The sheeps hit live and dead shrimp.

I’ve never been to the Indian Ocean…nor to the Rock of Gibraltar. I wouldn’t go to Alaska this time of the year. I don’t know any god inshore spots in Costa Rica. It’s been a month since I’ve been to the SC coast. That should help.

Got to be Louisiana.

I don’t know hwilcox, but I have a pretty good idea that he knows the difference between a black drum and sheepshead. Crazy I would have loved to see it.

If that was your bet, I hope you didn’t bet much.
