The obvious Trout Tricks, get them at Haddrells, and they will tell you how to fish them (instructions on this site as well, pretty easy).
Second is white or chartreuse curly tail grub with a red or unpainted head, I prefer the 3".
Z-man paddle tails are also pretty good, start with a really slow retrieve, let them drop once in a while to the bottom. Vary the retrieve until you start getting hits.
Lastly, keep Sellsfish’s store in your GPS to bail you out on the days you get skunked. Has worked for me quite a few times, the past couple summers have been pretty rough on me lol.

Live shrimp under a cork along grass lines and deep parts of creek mouths. if not live shrimp try that 4 in gulp. Pop the cork hard enough to make the glass and brass beads click. they will hit it then.

Caught some last week along a grass line on DOA shrimp under a cork. I have also had good luck with gulp molting shrimp on a jig head.

Gig those reds this time of year, it’s legal and they are delicious, .
uh oh
never tried gigging for reds. given the slot is so narrow, is it hard to judge the length of them in the water?

Let’s not get into this again.

Youre right. And they aren’t the greatest eating fish, though they are good. I’d rather catch em on a rod and reel
Wasn’t the subject artificial baits? Not live shrimp or gig poles. My go tos are trout tricks and 5" gulp jerk shad in sapphire shine. Also Zman Paddlerz in Ralph Shad. I also like suspending jerk baits of all types.

I’m with Optiker on this one. Y’all kind of “squirreled.”
Definitely another vote for Trout Trick. Also a “second” for the ZMan Paddlerz. Have caught more than my fair share on topwater too…popping style baits and walking style baits.
Earn it everyday…
How about at night? We’ve caught a fair amount shining a soft white 12V light and pulling a glowing shrimp across the light. Sometimes they’ll tear it up and sometimes they dont want anything to do with it.
We only do this in the fall.
The ZMan Slim Swimz rigged with the ZMan Finesse Shroom Jigheadz have been smacking them in any of the Glass Minnow colors that are offered. The water is cooling and the glass minnows are readily available and matching the size and color with help you.

Don’t be afraid to go a little larger with a bait. I have great luck with the 5" Z-man Paddlerz in smoky shad this time of year. The fish are hungry and they know winter is coming. I’ve also caught some really nice larger flounder on this same lure.
