I was wondering if anyone could school me on trout fishing and bait. I’m from NC and it seems that most of the techniques I’ve grown up using haven’t worked?
If they had not all died last winter you could catch them on cork with three to four feet of line split shot - circle hook live shrimp - incoming tide. fish a grass line or shell bed.
I’m no expert on it but that is how I started finding them - on a side note the goverment has asked that if we do catch one of the few remaining trout in the ocean to please let them go - that is why I recomend the circle hook.
some of the more experienced fishing persons on this sight may be able to tell you about fishing plastics i’m not even gonna try. I will tell you to go to your local fishing store ( not walmart) and have someone show you on 3 or 4 plastics and go from their. I threw away my box of walmart last year and have been better off since.

I don’t post on here much, cuz I’m a newbie, but the few times I have fished for trout with plastics we always caught trout. We used a small red jig head (1/4 oz I think) and would cast along the bank or under neath docks and pilings and like Flat Bottom said, a grass line or shell bed. We even picked up a few just trolling the edge casting up close to the grass kinda like bass fishing. I am waiting for my boat to get out of the shop and I’m going to get back at it, going to try for flounder next:)
By the way, I am on here all the time and There is a ton of good info from all you, so, Thanks!
