Splashed down with ronfishin at 650 as the sun was rising and went on the hunt of fish. We started out with the fly rods, as we found some Reds pushing on the main waterway. They wouldn’t take my fly or Ron’s so he switched up to a popping cork with an artificial still with no luck.
Compared some flies before we picked our choice, we had to many choices I think that was our problem
We gave up on the Redfish and moved to an oyster bed covered in water, I started off with a Rootbeer and Chartreuse DOA jerkbait, as my friend caught 13 the day before on that bait in a different location, Ron stuck with the popping cork and artificial but no takers. I flipped through his tackle box and checked out his artificial collection and went with this guy.
This electric chicken was very unique as it had a small thin profile, but once I switched it up, it was on. 1st cast I hooked this lady, 18.5" Trout. I measured and released her.
All fish were caught on this rig, with a chartruese/bright yellow jig head
great post! and how bout that trout with one spot on his side…the only one caught on the gulp saphire that is between your feet…now thats a pretty interesting sight
Yeah he was weird, that was one of the ones we kept, put him in the livewell and we was dead before we got back to the ramp, he did swallow the bait it was a good hook and it wasn’t a crazy fight or anything, last one caught first one dead, not sure if it was Ron or I who ate it haha.
Ron are you still alive ???
But it was a great day, that Sapphire Shine is good stuff, not the first person I have fished with on the site that had that in their bag

that thing you get just moments after you needed it.
yeah, I am still kickin and got the fever to get on em again. Wifey baked uo those trout for me with some sliced onion and green peppers and some of her secret herbs and spices and I chowed down watching the back nine of the Masters. What a great day. That sapphire shine is a great bait on a flutter hook. Reds love it and now we know one spotted trout will eat it too. Got that battery replaced and settin on go.
