Went out yesterday and we did pretty good. Started the day off with a nice bass.
The trout seemed to have moved out deeper. We thought the slack low tide was gonna suck yesterday and we managed to catch a bunch. All day we managed to get 60+ trout almost all but 2 were slot. Only 4 or 5 were more than 2lbs.
Just before dead low tide went and grabbed some oysters , brought back one 5 gal bucket. Perfect way to end the day. Just gotta find a place that sells Verjus for Mignonette.
Who’s bonzo? Last job was sous chef of a brasserie. Usually I would have just gone for the cocktail sauce but I like that mignonette doesn’t overpower the flavor of the oyster
“Who’s driving the boat!!!” hahaha Good job. I was only able to pick up a handful of trout today, but I caught one over slot red and one that straightened the hook…bah! I knew I needed better hooks, but I didn’t get them. I tried deeper but couldn’t find anything after the tide dropped so I scouted.

60 trout with only 2 out of slot is pretty good. I’ve not had the luck with a full limit of trout, but no shortage of spot tail.
Nothing finer than a dash of Texas pete as I rarely have the opportunity to take my time to eat oysters.
If I were to have some Chuttyhunks, Raspberry Point, or Nootka Sound oysters maybe some Verjus Mignonette Sauce would be in order.
Yeah, zman on jig head. Pretty much all I’ve been using. Occasional top water but that has slowed down a little. It’s a nice surprise when your pulling in trout after trout and then a nice red.
