How is the Trout bite? Figured this little cold spell would trun them on? Coming down next week, just wanting to see if anyone having any luck?
Fished from 2 hours after high to 2 hours of afternoon high in the Toogoodo and had no bites using live shrimp, mullet, gulp, trout tricks… no bites in front of oysters and creek mouths.

They are running GREAT!
Been doing great in the cooper with gulp shrimp under popping cork and gulp swimming mullet. Flounder, reds and trout. Take plenty though the bluefish are thick went through 2 packs in 2 hrs
I’ve been hunting them on the north coast after accidentally catching a few flounder fishing with mullet. So, I loaded up with live shrimp last week and proceeded to feed them all to the bait steelers. I guess chuck211 has it right using arties until the water temps drop a few degrees and runs off the pins.

Trout Tricks … that’s all you need
What is a good lure to hook up with the blues? I know they will cut off everything, anything reliable for hookups?

Fished north of Mt. Pleasant on Monday over shell bottom in about 5 - 8 feet of water. We fished the flood tide starting at half tide and fished almost to the top of the flood. Bite was sporadic at first but the last hour was a strike (and usually a catch) on every cast. All caught on small live shrimp under popping corks. We had limited time so I did not spend time experimenting with various plastics. Wish I had done so now because I am curious how we would have done with Trout Tricks, etc. Fish were a mix of sizes ranging from small “dinks” to high “teens”. My friend kept a couple for dinner but the rest were released. Great day. Yes, the trout bite is on!
How do you rig a Trout Tricks?
Just happened to be looking at one rigged on my desk

Looks so average but catches so good.
“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”.
A lot of people rig them “wrong”, upside down, with the ribs on top.
The way shown is the way Capt. Bob showed me how to rig them.
I have bitten about a half inch off the one shown.

Hey Dave, do you find that the new jigheads you are using make a difference as opposed to the traditional 1/8 oz round ones?

there’s a ribbed joke in here somewhere
For her pleasure.
Is that what you were looking for?

I think the 1/8 oz jig is optimal for the TT based on Bobs advice and also experience. That being said I’ve caught plenty of nice fish on the new jighead. It’s only a 16th different

I Will agree with you on the trout trick, we bought some two years ago and we are hooked, they work well for suspended Reds also!
Caught my largest trout on a Trout Trick. I have fished them on the 1/8 oz Gamakatsu and Owner Jigheads, also recently fished them with the TroutEye Jighead. Both are on point, hopefully they will soon be more durable.
