Tried the innercoastal today for the first time in awhile. Just had the urge to fish something different.
Tried some mud flats about 1 hour into rising. Water temp 2-3 degrees better than the rest, but didn’t see a one.
Tried Conch Creek for a bit. Ran into a pair of gray haired fish talers who you could tell have shared a boat countless times. Enjoyed a chat and they mentioned way up the creeks is where the fish were. They weren’t near them, so we found a creek and headed up!
Neat creek. Followed it up about as far as it would go during end of rising tide and started fishing. Didn’t tear them up by any stretch but was fun exploring, meandering and flipping a grub.
Wound up with about 8, all on Zman Morning Glory. Points, pockets and bends held fish mostly. Kept 4 for dinner.
Started heading back to Shem Creek, running the row of Mt. P docks, and I’m like “WHOA! That looks fishy!”. So we whipped around and dropped the trolling motor. Bam! 19" trout - a fatty! Released one of the others and dropped him in the well. This one nailed the Trout Trick.
Stopped by RB’s and the boy nailed a huge flounder - with creek fries! Two Shock Tops and a feast later we were headed to the landing!
Never a bad day with the E-dog! It was a thinking man’s day on the water, and alot of casts between fish. Beautiful day, but a tough fish for an 11 y/o! But we had a blast!
Dude, you had me going with the flattie until I saw the pic. Good news on the trout, now I don’t feel so bad about the delicious trout dinner I just ate. You were right, filets are a lot better than whole fish! Cool to see you and E-Man out of your usual element. That’s the good/bad thing about Charleston, there are just so many places to fish.
Glad ya’ll had a good day. Still no report from Bonzo.
Good times with the boy…and you dress him.well
.I have to stay away from Shem creek with my son. If he knew of the good food I would…not be able to get him fish. Lol

Good on ya Vin for covering new water and learning new (to you) areas. I know WAY too many folks that catch fish in a few places and sit on them all day whether they have luck or not. You can gain so much knowledge at times by keeping yourself in your non-comfort zone and sticking with it. Great job.
Like DFreedom you had me going with the flounder. Here I am sitting at work from 3:00pm til hopefully 10:00am sunday morning and hope to hiy it myself. Hope the trouts still biting tomorrow.
