Trout on the grub

Put the kayak in last night and paddled to drop on Folly Creek that has been holding some nice trout. The tide had turned and was well on it’s way in when I arrived. It was an overcast dreary day that was perfect for trout. My first cast hit the water and before I could start the retrieve it was hit and I had a small 14" trout on. Several more casts produced a couple more fish and as the tide rose the fish got bigger. Wound up with a dozen fish from 14-21", in about an hour. All fish caught on a green grub in about eight to ten feet of water. They seem to like it on the drop. All fish released. Once the tide got higher the fish relocated and it being almost dark I headed for home. May try some night fishing in the yak this weekend!

hello marshmellow, that sounds like a great time. I went out in my kayak behind folley for the first time about 10 days ago. It was a blast, lots of redfish on a 3 inch grub, some of the larger ones (approx 30 inches)pulled the kayak across the flat!! I would be interested in hooking up with one or two other people interested in kayak fishing. if you are interested in heading out this weekend please send me an email fisher@musc.edu
