Hello. I took Friday off to go fishing. I worked for shrimp before daylight and it payed off. I went to one of my red spots and picked up some nice trout and reds on the cork and shrimp. did well enough to try to repeat on Saturday. Nothin doin. Four dinky trout was it. I was determined to not come home empty handed so I netted some more shrimp and fingers and off to old faithful I went. I usually fish that spot with DOA shrimp so I was confident with livies. Again, nothin doin. I did however hook up with four bonnetheads though. I usually don’t care to catch sharks because in my experience, they pull hard for one run and then give up. Not that day, they were fighting like a train. Netting a p.o’d shark that is three times as long as the mouth of the net is a challenge also. The first one was the largest of the two that made it into the boat so I bledd, gutted and iced him down. Later on I fried some trout and reds with friends and then tried the bonnet. I was skeptical as all get out after eating those other tasty critters, but was pleasently surprised. A different texture, but very tasty. I cut the red meat off that’s under the skin. I bet that tastes like bluefish. Relax, mother nature knows that I have killed less than 20 fish in 2 years.
Good luck!
Sounds like some good fishing, with Bonnets my brother will skin it and cut into small steaks and cook them on the grill with a little lemon pepper. It is always good.
Wishin I was fishin.
