Trout, Snapper, Sheepshead

Caught lots of trout, lots of snapper, and my first sheepshead on a spinner bait.

wow! congrats on the fish. looks like you did a lot more catching than fishing!

Great job! Looks like a fun time! Btw, I’m just learning the ways of saltwater fishing, what kind of fish is that in the second to last pic, some kind of eel?

That is some kind of eel. I’m not sure what kind of eel, because I’m not an authority on eels, but I knew I didn’t want it in my boat. So, I leaned over and as close to its mouth as I dared to get, I cut my line.

Wow great trip!

Lol, the first picture of the snapper on the deck of the boat is a totally different day than the picture of the snapper all stacked up on the dock. The trolling motors are completely different. Still good fish though!!!

Firefighter, you are correct. Those fish on the deck are a community project. With a limit of two snapper per person, it's pretty obvious that there was more than one boat load of fishermen involved. We were all in bay boats, which carry 4-5 people. That pretty much limits one boat's catch to 10 snapper. While we were in several boats, we were all fishing the same area. My boat was tied up to my houseboat while the other boat was tied up to the house boat next to mine. Harold

Tigerfin,
Yes, it’s a long way, but it seems that there are folks from SC down in Venice every week. I bought into a fish camp in Venice. Four of my partners in the camp are from SC. Venice is the most fertile fishery I’ve ever seen. It made me sell my bass boat and get a bay boat. I think it’s worth the trip.
