Left with Mike around 9am and headed looking for reds.Found a few scattered small schools and marked the spot for later return.Went to Wide awake and tied up to a dock and started throwing grubs for trout.Water temp was 58.Threw about 6 different grubs when a trout hit the pink and white twister.Mike caught about 6 non keepers and i caught about the same with one 15 inch keeper that Mike released. The bite lasted about 20 minutes than nothing. We fished all the docks down river and no takers.Went back looking for reds and found they were gone from that spot.Called it a day.Beautiful day with a good friend.
Went out today at high tide…tried 3 different spots grubs…bottom…bobber…not a bite…but then I’m new to the area and probably don’t know where to go or what I’m doing…as you can see, my first post!
Hang tough there smabell. It has taken some time and the patience and benevolence of a couple folks here on CF to get me to the point where I could go out and catch something on my own. I still have a lot to learn but feel more confident going out by myself now. My biggest handicap is living in Columbia and not getting to spend more time on the water experimenting. Get out as often as you can, pay attention, take notes and remember what works and what does not.
Welocme aboard!
smabell - Keep at it buddy, you’ll get there. DFreedom is right on it. Scout around at low tide and mark the shell mounds. Especially those that are close to feeder creeks. Work the grubs along the grass edges when the water is moving. Good luck and keep at it.

Thanks for a good time, Joe. It was a blast catching the trout on artificials which as you know I am very inexperienced at. I appreciate the patience, tips, and general fishing knowledge you shared about that part of the ICW. It was not from lack of trying that no redfish were caught as we hit many spots and used different techniques. Beautiful day on the water and sharing it with The Stonoman was a treat. Ejoy your upcoming trip Joe and tight lines, Mike.
