Nice job Bugs. Killinr I would assume he keeps it on because he is fishing alone. Well knowing Bugs his dog can probably drive that boat.

…That would be correct Andy!!..I wear it because I do FISH ALONE!!!..and my dog wears one because he’s worth more to me than the boat, rods, reels, tackle, etc, etc. If I’m knocked out when I hit the water and we are both thrown from the boat, I want to make sure my boy is safe!!..
No fishmyot, it says right on the trout trick bag that “when trout are hungry, they will eat anything. When trout are not, they will eat a trout trick”!
#2) pix of him wearing it out (so he can’t be called out by the armchairs) while being safe and having a blast with his dog (that he obviously loves for all the right reasons and values more than material possessions),
#3) the incontrovertible fact is established- he catches fish.
#4) the conversation inevitably drifts to:
A) trash talking over the technique and gear he uses being inconsequential to his success, and
B) speculation over what kind of badass tackle he has selected for his trout slaying ways… this portion being accomplished without retaliatory trash talking, but a simple explanation of why it works for him, all the while supporting the local economy and fishing culture by promoting such things without an agenda.
bugs, i enjoy your posts- you’re a class act and an asset to the site. keep 'em coming!
OH and lest i forget another rule of CF, i shall offer something of my own accord because this is a REPORT! two nights ago at dusk i found trout and ladyfish action along the grass just after high tide when conditions were calm and clear. topwater using a spook jr with red head and white body yielded one 17" trout and one 2-3lb ladyfish with plenty of other blowups till it was too dark to see. i don’t have any pix, so you may now assail me for my lies.

Nice report man, yours are always great. I still reread that 50 redfish report! Hopefully my boykin will grow up to be a great fishin partner like yours!

They haven’t SOLD me anything as I have not bought any, just read the bag while checking out! More of a live bait guy! If I use artificial, it will probably be trolling with an old smokey grub!
Vinman, lighten up! Neither one of us complained, neither one of us said they didn’t work, neither one of us said anything negative about them at all!! I think the other post about them and it being SPAM and all is hilarious and it’s a shame that grown men would get that worked up over an artificial lure anyway! No what I mean?
Barbawang…Bonzo…PeaPod…Yakman…and others…Thanks for your support…all I do is try to share my experiences on the water and I seem to get bashed for it over and over and over again by some…NOT ALL but some!!..kinda funny really…I think they are just jealous.
Charley Sheen’s people should monitor this site for new ideas for “Anger Management”. I’ve been workin my resentment and rage tendencies for years and some of the stuff posted about my musings have been great fodder for my positive emotional growth.
I have googled chat rooms from Va to Tx, in marketing the TroutTrick and haven’t come across one that comes close to CF.com. Sorta like the difference in the Bassmasters show and the others. We are blessed to have this site. At least I am.
Speaking of the TroutTrick (you knew this was coming, didn’t you), when I am scouting for trout, especially in a larger potential area, I fish it much faster. By faster, I mean letting it fall to the bottom initially, then giving a number (4 to 8)of jerks, instead of a couple, before letting it fall to the bottom again. Conversely, when I’m really in the trout, I may only give one jerk between drops.
Fished trout trick yesterday and caught a few flounder. They work and have a good action to them. Can’t say they work better than anything else, but I’m new to inshore and this was one of the few plastics I bought along with some zman paddles to try out.
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there’d be a shortage of fishing poles. ~Doug Larson
I appreciate your reports as well Bugs. I think people always enjoy finding out about new lures. I remember when the first scented baits came out everyone was hot and heavy on them. I think this bait is interesting because many of us have fished like this for largemouth for years, but may not have applied the same technique for trout. Like someone earlier in this post said, you can catch trout on lots of different things when they are hungry and feeding. Live bait capitalizes on hungry fish as well. The bass guys have been getting fish that may not necessarily be hungry to eat for years. Whether is was throwing a lizard on a bed and making a big momma bass mad or just making a fish so flustered that their brain forgets to tell their stomach that they just ate. The term “Reaction Bite” has been used in freshwater for years and is really just now being talked about on the saltwater side. When Bob came and talked to our club the other night,he really gave a great presentation and shared a wealth of information without even mentioning his lures until the very end. For many the information he shared was things they had never thought about, For others with more experience their were some nuggets and reminders of things we should keep in mind when targeting trout. For many myself included, I would much rather catch inshore fish on artificials. I like trying different lures and seeing what works and why it works. Don’t misunderstand, I think fish however you like. There are times especially when I have the kids that live bait works best to keep everyone safe. Tomorrow morning I will be topwater fishing as the sun comes up and hopefully enjoying some great surface explosions. The beauty of fishing is that it means something different to everyone and we all like it for different reasons, I too get a little discouraged when I see people make disparaging remarks about someone’s report. When I had the idea for this site I was naive about this happening. I know many times guys are just kidding, but it does
Nice report bugs! We have life jackets for Roo too…and put them on her when we are running offshore and in the winter…and when it’s hot we keep them closely…just in case…but believe me…if. ROO went over…we would too!

Congrats on a great day, Bugs! When I first joined CF, you were on of the guys I paid close attention to. Glad you’re back, and looking forward to more of your posts.
Thanks Andy for the nice words…the checks in the mail!!!..LOL…
And thank you too Penny!!..got to protect my boy…safety first, ya know!!..
Thank you BlackBart and Bowfin, as well…
