OK, I want to try something new to me this fall. How do you troll for trout? Using jigs and artificials or do you use something like a carolina rig? I’m sure I can find the fish, I just wanted to know how you guys do it. Thanks in advance for any advice.
Jig with different color grubs(till you find which one they want).Troll with the current,I like to feel the jig bumping bottom.Good trolling around Cochina Harbor all the way out the the entrance of the Calabash river.Have done really well along the long oyster bank just before the river some years.
Do you troll close to the bank or in the channel?
Depends on location, along the oyster bar near calabash I troll closer to the bank, near the harbor I try to stay just off the channel, just depends on where the fish are holding. Some years trolling the channels inside Cochina can be awesome although that place has filled in and it’s hit or miss these days.
Thanks billymac!!!
Anytime, might just see you out there.
That’d be great, bm.
Billy, what kind of boat do you have? I’m in a green and white Hewes LT 18. Fat kid with a beard. LOL Hope to see you out there.
I would either be in a white Triumph 17 CC or a blue and black basstracker, depends on whether I fish the jetties as to which boat I fish, lots of trout to be caught on the rocks chunking artificials as well.
i will be there, already have once, water still a little to warm. may be gettin closer now.

in murrells inlet i troll mostly with suspending lures and grubs. i almost always troll against the current and always always work the lure with the rod! i sweep forward then follow the line back at the same speed your trolling. about 90 percent of your hits that will allow your lure to suspend in the current. about 90 percent of your hits come when the lure is suspended. the lure i use is a bass pro shops lazer eye, looks like a old rebel. blue back is what is use in the inlet most of the time but they have some brighter colors that may be more successfull in lr.
green grass and high tides forever
